Srinagar, May 17 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani have hoped that the new government of India will be able to read writing on the wall and come forward in a serious manner to resolve the Kashmir dispute, once and for all.
Addressing a big public gathering at Nowhatta in Srinagar, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said, it is internationally recognised now that peace and stability in South Asia will remain elusive till the dispute over Jammu and Kashmir remains unresolved. Later, the APHC Chairman led a procession, which culminated at Rajouri Kadal after passing through various localities of the city. People raised high-pitched anti-India and pro-liberation slogans on the occasion.
Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar reminded the Congress party of the commitments made by its leaders particularly, Jawahar Lal Nehru regarding holding of plebiscite in the disputed territory.
The Illegally detained senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmed Shah in his statement appealed the people of occupied Kashmir to make the Eidgah March on Thursday a success, call for which has been given by the All Parties Hurriyet Conference.
On the other hand, the commencement of Martyrdom Week, today, was marked with Quran Khawani and a prayer function at Rajouri Kadal in which glowing tributes were paid to Kashmiri martyrs including Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone.
